We purchased model 1094S, which has a colour screen so that you can easily keep an eye on your baby from another room, so would recommend it for that purpose. However, found that we did not use the sensor pad as our baby does not lie still enough!

cheaply made and very temperamental we would sometimes hear the baby crying even though we couldnt hear him through the monitor

Closer to Nature Video Monitor. Really clear picture, has night vision so easy to see baby when it's dark, sounds is very clear too. Only used the movement pad once as the alarm kept going off, have heard this is a problem with them. The only real downside for me is that the monitor you use downstairs battery doesn't last long so you have to charge it maybe every other day.

Crackly sound occasionally, poor quality camera. Value for money but not my favourite

Good for sensor mat if in a crib with thin mattress. Doesn't work at all with a normal thickness cot mattress. Monitor is horrendous for sound, picks up sound after crying for about a minute. Other monitor picks up everything.
