Similar to other teething gels. It contains lidocaine which is the active numbing ingredient. The do have a tendency to lick it off before it starts working though. I would recommend a teething chew to help apply all teething relief products. Spread a bit of the gel on the chew and the baby will chew on it where they need it.

It's quite efficient. The only problem I had was actually reaching the area I wanted to apply it to.

This gel is very runny so I find it difficult to apply as it drips of my finger before I manage to apply on my daughter's gums.
