We purchased model 1094S, which has a colour screen so that you can easily keep an eye on your baby from another room, so would recommend it for that purpose. However, found that we did not use the sensor pad as our baby does not lie still enough!

I used a sound only monitor, sound was very clear you could also talk to child through the parent unit, good range when not plugged in and the battery lasted well when not plugged in, good value for money
